Kotra CDL Driving School: Provides training for individuals wishing to obtain Commercial Driver License class A which permits the holder to operate combination and straight trucks. The CDL License class A is valid everywhere in the United States. Has licensed instructors experienced in the truck driving industry and teaching. Uses late model equipment for behind-the-wheel practice. Equipped with various video and audio aides to enhance the learning efficiency. We speak: English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarus, and Polish and also have study guides and other materials in Lithuanian and Bulgarian languages. We offer: night and evening classes, individual schedules for busy students, full and part time enrollments

Training Overview: 160 Hours Program Our program is designed in accordance with the requirements of the Illinois Secretary of State. Each student must receive 160 hours of CDL instruction in a minimum of 4 weeks allocated as follows: Classroom 40 hours of classroom instruction; this includes but is not limited to, preparation for the Secretary of State’s written examinations.
Range Minimum of 16 hours of behind-the-wheel training on an approved lot with a licensed instructor. This includes practicing to perform basic maneuvers such as straight line backing, angle backing, measured right turn, stopping at a line, coupling and uncoupling. Over the Road Minimum of 16 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction on public streets and highways. This requires one on one instruction with a licensed CDL instructor on a school vehicle. The students learn to manage and adjust vehicle speed and vehicle space relations, to identify potential driving hazards and perform emergency maneuvers, to identify and adjust to difficult and extreme driving conditions, and to perform executive shifting.
Observation 10 hours of observation experience composed of observation of the practice range and over-the-road training. Remedial Training 78 hours of additional classroom training, observation, and practice range/over-the-road training, based on each CDL student’s specific needs.
Brush-up Program Individuals that hold a CDL class B or have had a CDL class A in the past are eligible for a shorter course designed to prepare such students for passing the Illinois Commercial Driver's License CDL test.
